Here in Young county just west of Olney. I'm coming up on nearly two years with only a lone boar on the ranch. Two years ago in Nov the hunting lease across the street trapped out about twenty hogs. Since then, just one lone bore. Usually we had between four to twenty plus hogs on the ranch at anyone given time. My neighbors aren't seeing them either. We like having hogs for the kids and friends to shoot. I keep hoping they rebound this year. I always keep three feeders going through the winter, spring and early summer. In July I have all seven feeders going.

It's a waiting game for sure! Anyone else seeing this?

Oh they are around, they may just not be on your place. They are nomadic as hell. How many tanks do you have? They will find water and mud somewhere.

I have a one acre tank. I keep hoping to see a couple few come in. Hopefully as the weather turns cooler.

'Careful what you wish for. I would be perfectly fine with never seeing another hog on my place. Unfortunately, that's never gonna happen.

They've disappeared in Northern Archer county.

I'd as soon not see any myself. Fixing fence and filling deep holes
and having trees and other plantings destroyed gets old to me

Can not imagine anyone 'wanting' feral hogs.

Been battling them for the last 30 yrs.

If there were not a single Feral Hog in the country.....it would suit me fine. Wretched creatures.

I'd like to add a water trough by the house for quail and deer, but am fearful it'd bring pigs that would lift up the yard fence like it's tissue paper and destroy the wife's plants in front of the porch. taz

We've own the ranch for over ten years. I don't have any crops on my place, just pastures for the horses and cows. I've seen severe hog rooting damage on a few friends places that have crops. I've never experienced that type of rooting. With six dogs and full time access to the back and side yard we don't see many critters as they bark at butterfly's. I did put a wildlife feeder about a 100 yards from the front of the house that can't been seen from the back or side yard. We finally get to see deer in the mornings and evenings and the occasional turkey which is always a nice sight. Occasionally we'll see a hog or two on it at night from the game camera. My kids and friends enjoy hunting them, looking forward to when they move back in,

Call us crazy!

Count your blessings! they are around, we have the same problem here near the Brenham TX
area! very few pigs around, its been so dry here, very little rain for month of Sept, think they went
down near the river, north of me here.

Fixing to plow up a acre food plot for the deer, but not planting yet, need some moisture for soil,
hopefully it will come soon.

There are quite a few locals trapping in that area. I don't think we are too far from you. We were absolutely overrun a couple years ago and numbers are way down since. My neighbor to the north has at least 2 of the auto traps he's running in his wheat. I cant begin to guess the number of pigs he has hauled out of there.

I have not seen a single one on my place in Van Zandt County for the last 18+ months. I'm just curious where they went. I still have them in Stonewall County.

Hogs are a scourge to our state and country, and they should be eliminated with extreme prejudice. They are not indigenous and cause untold millions/billions of dollars in damages every year. They over-compete with native critters and upset the natural ecosystem. They are ungood for our landscape.

Fortunately, I haven't seen a dozen of the pests since the "Great Freeze."

Did I mention that hogs suck? dead_horse

I have to think that the majority of folks that want hogs around (to hunt) must not be Land Owners who have to repair the damage hogs do to the land and crops.

If I never saw another Feral Hog in my life, it would be fine with me.

Based on pics from the last few weeks, they apparently drove down 114, had a burger at Herd’s & decided to set up shop in Jacksboro again….

At one time, my place in Montague County was butt deep in pigs. Now, none on cams at 6 feeders. Where did they go?

We own our ranch. As I said we don't have crops on our places. Pastures for the horses and cattle. In ten plus years we've never seen the severe hog damage my neighbors with wheat have. My kids and friends enjoy hunting them? As a positive at least for us. My neighbor across the road said he had a half dozen on his camera last week one night. They didn't cross the road to my place...yet!

I'm getting some purdy, mottled ones. realmad 'Hope I can get 'em in a trap soon. If not, I gotta sit there in the morning and try to make 'em at least go nocturnal before the youth hunt. rifle

I am surprised no one has mentioned that this exact subject was discussed on this forum just earlier this year. Even almost the exact same title:
Where have the hogs gone?

I just pulled the camera cards for the last week. Just like that after nearly two years the hogs are back. Two different groups the best I can tell. One group on the north end of ranch and another on south end of the ranch. On feeder I counted a dozen. This season is looking promising.
