My arm is currently in bandages from another wrist surgery. The bandages will be off soon, but I will be on light duty for quite a while with that arm, maybe permanently. Apparently, I am going to need some sort of game hoist for my truck, maybe some sort of trailer hitch non-permanent addition.

Do any of y'all use a hitch mounted game hoist of some sort and do you like it?

I was thinking of something like this as it is lightweight, but only goes to 300 lbs (not that I shoot hogs over 300 lbs very often, LOL). Thoughts?

I have two, the best one being from a gentleman on here, 'can't remember his screen name, in north Georgetown. Heavy, but will last. The other, light one's off Amazon and I had to replace the winch with a decent one within the first year.

Buy whatever you can find and be prepared to modify it by lengthening and reinforcing the piece that slides into the receiver. For it to work on a UTV with the tailgate down it will need to be a little longer than standard. I added about 8-9". Inside this piece we made tubing out of the perfect sized angle metal creating a double wall, welded it up, grind, paint. Works great. You'll want to double up for heavy loads that may swing away from your truck if you are on a slight uphill incline from your load. You won't find yourself in a perfectly level parking lot like all the adds that demonstrate these. Mine is invaluable. [Linked Image]

Good advice and observations. Thank you. That isn't what I was looking for, but will be useful. You don't know if you don't know.

Mine breaks down into three pieces, rides in the bed all season long.

Bought one at Bucees a few years ago. It did crack outside the receiver. I blame it on hauling a large hog hanging back to camp.

Been using one from Sportsman’s Guide for almost 10 years. Works great and the receiver hitch piece is long enough to use with my tailgate down.

I use one of the game hoists made for a receiver hitch manufactured by some big name outdoorsy kinda place, it is a very useful product when I want to use it, but I have found I use it about half the time, the other half I just have someone with me pick up a deer and place it into my kawasaki mule bed and then use the front winch and a chain on some I beam to hang for gutting. I know what I have is not what you are looking for.

But reason I bring all this up, is something similar to what you have in the video coupled with an automatic winch, either on the unit or comig from the front and wrapping around some pulleys on the unit itself would make cranking so much easier. I find the cranking of the manual winch to be not so simple and the higher the crank the less it will be fun.

I have no other input to this thread as my idea of a receiver mounted game hoist is similar to what has been posted by others. 2-3 piece construction that is solid steel and cumbersome for full time hitch use.

I've got two similar to Onlysmithand wesson. My HME brand has a drop foot to ground (no need for the bucket/toolbox underneath), also breaks down to 3 pieces. Very handy. Key is have in the bed with you
