As best I recall, I began metallic cartridge handloading back in the 1975 timeframe…so I’m sneaking up on 50 years “in the business”. A humble beginning with a mallet and Lee Loaders in .243 Winchester and .218 Bee grew into an RCBS Rock-Chucker press (that I STILL load rifle ammo on!) and a couple of Dillons for the high-volume stuff. Now, there’s plenty of folks with more experience than me, but I’m WAY past “first rodeo” status! Over the years I’ve heard some really strange terms come from my fellow shooters (which is understandable when you have a technology-laden language such as ours), but one term that always gave me a chortle was a reference to pointy projectiles as “SPRITZERS”. As in, “Yeah, I’m getting really good performance from RemChester 130 grain spritzers out of my .270”. Never mind that true “Spritzers” are a lightly alcoholic beverage made with wine and soda water…or perhaps the judicious ingestion of “spritzer group tightener” is the reason for their improved performance? Either way, I smirked on the inside every time I heard the reference. And then TODAY happened. I was loading a supply of .223 ammo for my Brno “Express” in preparation for lots of pre-safari practice and had just finished one box of Speer 70 grain .224 semi-spitzers and reached for another from the shelf. While cutting the seal on the box, I spotted something “off”…and it didn’t get any better the closer I examined it! Sure enough, there are multiple boxes of these bullets labeled “semi- SPRITZER”. The horror… Checking Speer’s website shows that their labeling QA/QC ain’t where it needs to be. Zoom in on the label and “Spritzer” is there for all to see. Read the tech specs and only SPITZERS are mentioned. These days, who knows? Maybe these bullets are spitzers that IDENTIFY as spritzers. Or maybe the other way ‘round. I’m SO confused!

It’s humorous on many levels
I suspect they’ll say that the price increase is due to the classification as a beverage

One box of normal bullets and one for an accuracy correction factor after consuming too many beverages which include spritzers.
Add Sin-tax may be cheaper

I briefly considered that (if they were lightly jacketed and VERY frangible) they might be so named due to their propensity to "spritz" the nearby foliage with bits of varmint clockwork...

Lol. That is pretty funny as I had never heard them termed spritzer before.
My catch that’s a little similar is on the Lyman power trimmer the collet for the 6.5 Creedmoor is spelled Creedmore which I have seen misspelled several times on the internet but not on a retail product.
