Does anyone use the Ozone generators for their hunting? I'm thinking about getting one to try. I hunt in an area that swirls the wind a lot. Which models do you like or have had good success with?
Thanks!

Old thread. Buy an ozone machine and a HECS suit and see which performs the better miracle.

I’m a fan of pure skunk essence. Not the stuff you get in a hunting store but rather the trapping supply type.

The buddy that I share a lease with swears by them.. he has the ScentLok crate/box that he stores all of his stuff in, and then hangs one of the portable units inside his blind as well..

To his credit, he is typically fairly successful.. he tagged out last year and completely filled the freezer...

That said.. I hunt the same property.. I dont use any sort of ozone generator or even use any kind of scent blocker... and tagged out last year.. My wife doesnt use any sort of ozone generator or scent blocker, and she took a couple of doe (she only hunted 3 days last season, so not bad results at all IMO)...

I suppose they work.. I just havent seen a need to use one, and therefore havent invested in anything like that.. I figure I was killing deer 40+ years ago wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes, and a carhart shirt, sitting under a tree (no blind)... still smelling like cheap cologne and sweat from the night before...

No need to change whats been working pretty well for more than 4 decades smile

The scent killers, including ozonics, are a joke. It's proof that hunters will buy/try anything to make up for being lazy and ignorant.

If they worked, every drug dealer in the world would have one in the case with the drugs.

We use ozonics for photography, they work amazing if you know how to set them up with the wind in the blind.

If the wind is consistent, not swirling and the humidity is right I can smoke a cig 40 yards away and they never lift their heads.

Ozone works to get rid of odors, no doubt, but an ozonics machine does not pump out enough ozone in sufficient concentration to actually do the job.

Try this. Go get yourself a fresh kill skunk and run the machine over the carcass and stand down wind. Can you smell the skunk? Don't want to do the skunk? Get a durian fruit and open it up and run the machine and tell me if you can still smell the fruit.

There is this famous test about how well ozone and ozonics works, but they skewed the testing in favor of making Ozonics look good and used it in a manner that you would not be using it in the field.

Test No. 4
Setup Borowiak took a no-scent shower and dressed in hunting clothes that he’d washed in no-scent soap. He carried an Ozonics unit (ozonicshunting.com) meant for mounting near a treestand or in a blind, ran it for a minute inside the box before the test began, and left it on throughout.

You see what they did there, right? First he does everything possible to kill his scent preliminarily and then he runs the Ozonics machine inside the box he will be hiding in and does it for a minute. What is he doing? He is building up a concentration of ozone in the box, which is not going to happen in an open windowed hunting blind, right? Then he gets in the box and closes it up and lets the machine continue to run, increasing the concentration inside the box considerably. That is expressly NOT how you should run the machine as ozone is not good for you, LOL.

Compare that to a real life hunting situation where the ozone sort of wafts over you briefly in low concentration before losing contact and drifting away.

Yes, ozone works well for odors, but Ozonics is a very weak ozone machine and in the field you aren't using it like in the test. The test was biased.

I have said before I use an ozone generator in my hunting clothes closet, outside in my garage/barn. I feel it does a good job of keeping my clothes scent free and there are days I can still smell some ozone scent coming off my clothes as I sit. I do not run an ozone generator for my hunts. I play the wind, and do what I can to remain as scent free as possible, and I do just fine.

If you really want to do something with ozone, I suggest using it to wash over your hunting clothing.

I primarily bow hunt so scent control is important to me. But not spending money on an ozonics, might use it for a bit if it was free.

Ive never used one but I'm usually far enough away from wary noses. I used to buy everything I could get my hands on.

Now I will rub a cedar branch on my clothes or step on a cow patty roflmao
