Might be very difficult to draw a tag for 2025 unless you been building preference points.
i used an outfitter in 2020 and he was good, keith miller. He owns an outfit in montana and also one in south texas.

There is a tag in Montana that a non resident is pretty much guaranteed to draw with 3 points. I would be lying if I told you I understood how all of it works but thats what I have been informed. I applied this year and bought a bonus point/ preference point (whichever is the right language) and should draw next year. Do you have the contact info of who you used. Ill go google as well. Thank you

Montana Trophy Outfitters. www.mttrophy.comGreat bunch, I’ve hunted with Forest as have some of my friends. With an outfitter your draw chances are excellent. PM me if you would like his cell phone number.

Also check now on buying a preference point. bought one this year You're doing good then. If you book with an outfitter, before December 31, you'll get an additional 2 points. I believe. Call Forrest at Montana Trophy Outfitters and talk to him about it.

I’m going with an outfitter in Montana next month. 3 points is the max you get. You can buy a point the season before you go, then You get a bonus outfitter point, then you get a point when you apply for the draw in the season you’re wanting to hunt. It is almost a guarantee to get drawn. @Chrisbb I can let you know how it goes when I get back, it’ll be my first time going out there.

Just got back from a bowhunt with Keith at Montana Whitetails. I was unsuccessful, but not because of lack of effort on Keith and his folks part. There were 4 elk hunters at the lodge, one got an arrow into a bull in the first 20 minutes of the hunt (10 minutes before sunrise on the first day of the hunt). He was basically using a whitetail setup, so he ended up not finding the bull. My best friend arrowed a nice 6X6 the second evening of the hunt. His only went 30 yards and down (65 yard shot after he initially missed at 42). The other guy had a nice 5X5 at 30 yards, slight quartering to and while he was waiting for it to turn broadside, he got thermaled (again using basically a whitetail setup). I had a very nice 5X6 at 72 yards, facing dead on. If he had come within 40 I would have shot.
The last afternoon/evening we went to a spot where I no BS counted 22 different bulls. Unfortunately, there were also about 200 cows, so the closest we could get one in to us by calling and decoy was 157 yards.
We are planning on going back in 2026 and if he has a rifle cancellation this year, I will probably go back out to try to fill my tag with a rifle.
BTW, I did not have a preference point, but was still able to draw a tag by buying one with this years application and using an outfitter point. The only drawback to using an outfitter point is that your license is only good when hunting with that particular outfitter.
One more thing. If you have the desire, I highly recommend buying a bear tag too. Of the 6 people hunting last week, 4 of us had bears within bow range and the one I saw was a cool cinnamon color phase bear.
