Who else is getting ready? I'm sharpening my knife right now. Hoping to be using it about 36 hours from now!

I'm pumped!!! I'm already excited about opening weekend!! Bow season is for me. Meaning, I'm hunting alone in the stand (generally, unless I'm filming) and trying to get a buck. Rifle season is for the family time and hanging out with everyone. Rifle season is more the grocery getting time. Bow season is the "hunting season" for me.

I'm excited just like every year! Don't think I'll pull back on anything but you never know. Brining my buddy who I'm setting up on my best stand to get a doe.
Then some stand and plot work afterwards. 62 degrees in the morning!

Picking my son up after school, and trying to get him his first bow kill this weekend. I have one bow stand where I can see him with binoculars. I'm going to try to watch him get his first deer with a bow.

Getting ready here too! I'm keeping my expectations low as it's a bit warm (63 degrees in north Texas tomorrow morning) but I'll be out on public land!

This is how my morning ended up

[Linked Image]

Daughter wanted to come with me so we left the house at 5:00 am to make it to the property.

As we are pulling in the gate she says she wants to hunt somewhere she can lay down on the floor, which really leaves me no option but one. Wind is blowing out of the north, which isn’t ideal but I thought we would be good in that stand. Well we weren’t. Shortly after daylight a doe starts blowing at us. Saw a few deer further off but nothing came in. She was snoring and sniffling asleep on the floor…we ended up leaving shortly after the feeder went off at 8am.

Gonna try a better wind set up this afternoon

You have had so much success, you need someone to pump the brakes for you so the rest of us can kill some deer around here.

Haha!

Every season on opening day the sum gets zero'd again. Gotta stay in the game.

We had a talk....this morning we were tired, but this afternoon we are going to put an arrow thru something

North wind is gonna hang with us for the next few days so we decided to call it and come home. Sat this evening and saw two does with fawns but nothing else came to the feeder. Shin oak acorns are dropping so I’m sure that is having an effect on deer movement.

Did go into junction and grocery shop and restocked most everything….i was still rolling with good that expired in 21’….

Good pic of what it's really all about. up

This is gonna be the last season for "your" Boot Heel blind on my place. 'Gonna clear and put in a good, sleepable blind that faces north in the high, SE corner this coming spring. That'll give me two for a wind outa the north. The old one did teach me that packrats love to chew expandable foam to make a nice, snuggly nest around their inner, cedar bark nest. flame
