Just got home from a pronghorn hunt in Utah. Running a disk over my fields again, and noticed some costal looking funny. Upon closer inspection I see thousands of army worms. Guess I will wait a couple weeks before planting.

There is a new seed treatment now, costs about $10 per acre and lasts through germination and 30-60 days after.

I usually plant wheat the first couple of weeks of October. So far I haven't had issues with them. I have seen neighbors wheat wiped out before, they plant early- mid September.

I planted 15 acres of oats yesterday, hopefully by the time it rains and germinates I'll be ok.

We are ready to plant but no rain in forecast for at least two weeks.

I'm waiting also.
It's deer than a popcorn fart with no rain in site.

no time to do plowing and planting for another week or so, but without any moisture for the next 10+ days, doesn't hurt my feelings. Will get around to it in a couple of weeks when I have time.

I turned my 40 acre field today. I won't plant wheat for another 8-10 days, but I wanted to get the field turned while there was some moisture in the soil. Glad I did, it wouldn't have turned as good in a week, would've been too dry with all these 90+ days ahead.
