I have a Tactacam Reveal game camera that is set up on my lease that is about 80 miles distant from where I live. Distance is no problem in transmitting pictures because last year I was on a lease that is about 10 miles further away and I received pictures with no problem. Anyway, this year where I am hunting is a relatively steep and deep canyon and the camera will not transmit pictures to my phone. I read where Tactacam has a new antennae that will improve the pictures sent by adding 6 feet of connections and get the antennae up a little bit higher in the tree, but as deep and steep as the camera is in the canyon, I figure I am just throwing good money after bad. Anyone have any experience trying to get pictures from a low spot on their lease? Thanks.

I've always been able to get a tactacam to send photos, even in gulley's. I have a friend who did use their extended antenna and it seemed to work, but he already had it and a 10 foot pole that it was mounted on. You may have already done this, but call tactacam support ((218) 282-5650) and see what they can do for you. They have always been super with helping me. With you cell phone, how many bars do you have on it when you are standing at the spot that your camera is located. As long as I had one bar on my phone I got photos. If you don't have any bars, you are probably out of luck.

I had, what I thought was this same issue with my 1st gen reveal a couple years ago. Had it up on a hill in East Tx working fine and moved it the following year down the steeper side of the hill into a draw and suddenly no signal. Turns out I had tightened the antenna "too much" and broke something. Hopefully that's not your issue, but I agree with Mr. T, check your phone service as long as its the same provider as the card in your cam.

My first thought is it's that specific camera. Check your bars, take another camera with you to try, be sure the batteries are fresh, etc. Good luck!

And there was one thing that I did when one of mine stopped working. But you have to have the camera in hand. Mine had stopped sending and they said to take out the sim card and blow in the hole. I called BS, but tried it anyway. Yep it started working again. But that's not your problem as yours has never worked there, unless it got dust in it when you moved it. Oh, I also wiped off the card to remove dust.

Here are some thoughts and ideas based on my experience that may help you. What the guys are saying in earlier "replies" are correct. The cameras have had problems with the antenna connections coming loose inside the camera. I took mine apart and the small coaxial cable was loose, so I glued it back in. If you take that camera and climb up into the high spot you should get a bar or several bars of signal. If you do not it may have come loose inside the camera. They have made changes to fix this in their newer cameras. If you get signal then you are good. You can buy a generic antenna that works and has a 10 foot cable versus the one they have that is only 6 foot. We have several Tacta-cams and in our area we get a signal off and on depending on the weather conditions. I would turn on the "check in picture". That will take 2 pictures at different times of the day no matter what and set up your camera to send pictures "Timely". That will use more battery power but might help indicate when you have at least 1 bar of signal and get your pictures to come in. Now comes the other problem- lets' assume worst case you just can't get signal down in that deep canyon after trying all there things. The cameras without the LCD screens do not have a program feature that will allow you to set the date and time. Bad programming IMO. The camera will eventually lose the correct date and time because it is not connected the Reveal Server so using the camera and just pulling the chips and seeing wildlife it will be hard to correlate the time of day they are coming to feeders, trails etc. If you try and save money and run your cameras only during the hunting season or specific months it will lose the correct date and time. I am preaching to them to develop a new program load and remove 1-2 features to have program room to allow the setting of the date and time. Sorry this is long but i wanted to let others know more things about the Reveal Cameras.

If no cell bars, locate the closest spot that you do get signal. Then place a vertical raised antenna there and hand build a cord length necessary to reach back to camera. take a pic axe lightly bury your cable to avoid animals tripping/pulling cable. Or just do without cell transmitted pics from that particular location but at least you can still get picks and pull card but date/time data may get off as mentioned above. I too wish Tacatacam would add back in new cameras and self programming date/time function (not everyone/place has cell service in our huntling locations)
