This buck has been hanging around this summer at my place that I have for sale in Houston, County TX near Ratcliff surrounded by the Davy Crockett National Forest.

We had an earnest contract a week after we put it for sale in July but the guy pulled out and forfeited his earnest money. So if I still own it, after Sept. 28th, I guess I'll haul some of my hunting stuff back up. I left 4 feeders and have one still feeding with a camera. There was a very tall tined eight as well as an eleven point also but last time I went my camera batteries had died. Going back up soon to cut grass and check camera.

Houston County as a whole is known (in Deep East Texas) to produce some very nice deer.

Your property (because of location next to DCNF) has great potential.

Is this the same property you've found the lithic artifacts on in the past?

Yes, that's where I found all those artifacts. I am sure there are many more as I didn't dig but a small percentage of the high ground where I found most. There are also two creeks where I found most of the pottery.

The only reason I'm selling is because it is 4.5 hours from my home and with my wife still working, I was the only one getting a lot of enjoyment and time to spend there. In July, we purchased land in Lavaca County and plan to eventually sell our home and land in Inez and move there.

Being intimately familiar with the 'area', I can only tell others....it should have great potential for hunting land, for someone who can devote some time to it.

Thanks, flintknapper. I love the place and am only selling so the rest of the family can get enjoyment out of a country place also. Going to miss digging for the artifacts. There are tons of hogs, raccoons, squirrels, wood ducks at the ponds, even dove at the feeders. The deer seem to really grow the tall tines in this part of Texas.
