Anyone who is hunting central/northern Collin County, how are your trail cams looking? Tons of development in this area and I have noticed a lack of mature bucks that I would have seen in the past couple of years. I'm not feeling too good about this upcoming archery season...

Development has indeed pushed the deer out of most of Collin, the northeast is the last bit left but the developers will buy that as well….

Lavon Corp should do a lottery archery hunt and use all the money to fix all the potholes at ramps across the entire lake. There are some big bucks in them government lands

Im afraid the good ole days are gone in Collin County. Used to have multiple 150 inch+ deer on my cameras in the past. The last 3 years have not seen near the size or number that used to exist. Alot of pressure, alot of poaching, people shooting them with firearms and development have really been detrimental.

I see deer hanging on the creeks all the time off of 121 and Collin loop...also some big boys in the Lavon area. I think some area especially in Anna have been lost but they are still around I bet...the poachers haven't gotten all of them!

I had a couple of freaks on camera last year pre-rut and during the rut. So far it’s been multiple does and three 8pts that aren’t impressive by any means. I wish that the deer in NTX would get accustomed to human life and development like they do in Austin area and Atlanta area, those deer are like squirrels!

Don't have nearly the population of Hill Country or Austin Area.

The glory days are pretty much gone in Montague County

Oh for sure. I guess that’s what made the gene pool in Collin County so great. If you look at antler growth from 2.5-4.5 in all of the Texas ecoregions you see that the Blackland Prairie (this includes Collin County and other NTX counties) has the biggest average score. When you reach 5.5+ years then the South Texas Plains and Western Rolling Plains overtake Blackland Prairies but it is still up there in avg score. The Edwards Plateau (Including Austin and Hill Country) has the lowest average score across every year.

Are you getting these average scores by region from TBGA or where? Must not be TBGA cause I dont think they try to track anything by age. Is it some type study that TPWD has done? I would love to see numbers like you are referring to but I didnt know the existed.
