Never been to the State Park before. Would be curious to hear anybody’s experiences archery hunting out there.
Few questions I’ll ask the SP hunt coordinator if y’all can’t answer:
- Hunt description says by compartment, does anybody have a compartment map? - Are there feeders that the state park runs? - Recommended to bring a blind. Do they have any blinds or stand that are usable? If so, basic description would be helpful.
I hunted there a few years ago , no feeders the stands that I saw were for rifle hunts It was thick , set on the roads or heavy trails I did not get a deer but saw lots of them out of range and one huge huge buck that was not 13in wide super thick and tall
I just used the brush for cover and set in a fold up chair
Appreciate the intel Swamp. You don't happen to have a map of the different compartments do you? They sent email w/ instructions and specifically stated you can't scout the area beforehand... Would be nice to at least get an idea of the different compartments to be able to escout a bit for each of them
Look forward to meeting you out there Bryan! Have you decided where you're going to stay? Cabin/hotel/tent?
I am leaning towards a cabin, it will be nice to be on location and have some room to spread out as opposed to a tent. Probably still less expensive than a hotel at $85/night.
I hunted there a long time back. Lots of hogs. When I was there they had a stand that you could climb that leaned up against a tree. It rained almost the whole time we were there so take a pop up blind in case.
