Do people ever see any whitetail in these areas? I frequent the area since my fiancee lives down here and there's still so much undeveloped land and prime looking land for whitetail to inhabit. I've asked her dad when the last time he saw deer was and he said it was way back in the 90s. I can't believe it since where I live up in Collin County you still see whitetail in areas that are much more developed than Midlothian/Waxahachie/Cedar Hill.

EDIT: I know the whitetail population in Maypearl is healthy, but there's thousands of acres of empty land between there and Midlothan/Waxahachie. I also know that people DO kill whitetail in the Waxahachie area per the Texas Buck Registry. I'm just baffled that I haven't seen one whitetail in my 7-8 years going down there every week

I grew up right outside DeSoto & in 3-4 decades we never saw deer on our farm. My parents live off 66 now going towards Maypearl & they have deer & turkey in their backyard all the time.

I grew up in Duncanville and remember when they built Joe Pool Lake and TPW did stock some whitetail in the area but for some reason they never took off. I agree some of the area around Midlothian looks like it should hold deer but for some reason they aren't around. A few deer are around RO and Sardis area today, maybe they will become more numerous in the future.

I drive FM 875 routinely through the south side of Midlothian and through Sardis. I have not once seen one back there even though it’s very little development.

I grew up in Ovilla and surrounding areas (Midlo, Hachie, RO, Cedar Hood) and have never seen deer. Even where I live now, out towards Avalon/Blooming Grove, they are slowly growing in number but only recently have I seen enough to hang some cameras and drop corn (and get a little excited). I have always been curious why they are not around and can only attribute it to heavy AG in the past/currently plus a healthy amount of hunters. I was talking to a friend of my Father-In-Law two weeks ago who grew up in Forreston, and this is only one person's perspective, but he recalls even 35 years ago they would have to travel south or west to find deer.

In Sardis, more hogs than deer but I have seen them occasionally and saw one hit probably in 2014ish...

I think TPW stocked twice around Navarro Mills Lake in the 80's...I think Navarro had a Deer season first in mid 90's...BG area has good pockets of deer now and lots of hogs...

Plenty of hogs and coyotes, which probably doesn't help deer population here or in midlo/hachie.
