While I've always viewed using the wind in your favor is paramount to deer hunting success, I like to say I also take a commonsense approach to scent control. Something that has always concerned me is the scent that usually comes from the various brands of gun oil. I was just poking around in Walmart this morning and came across a product from a company called Gunmaster that's a protectant and lubricant with a pine cover scent. Thought I would give it a try to protect the external surfaces from the elements. Later I checked and found similar products available online from various sources.

Haven't run across one yet but it appears to be solid market for such products given their widespread availability. As one hunter put it, "We spend so much time and effort to remove excess odors from our clothing and ourselves, only to carry a gun around in the woods that stinks to high heaven." I've run across gun oils that carry earth, acorn, and pine scent, while others tout having no scent at all. While some of these appear to be quite pricey, Lucas sells an unscented gun oil that is probably the cheapest I've seen.
