Have a pretty big itch to hunt another stag (weird because I am not big into elk hunting, that must be the German/Czech in me) but want to go to eastern Europe ( Germany, Austria, Czech or possibly Romania) and get a good stag.
Anyone have any experience with any one of those countries?
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I don’t know about Stag hunting over there, but when the wife and I went on a Danube River cruise through all the countries along the river, there were deer blinds like ours. I wasn’t expecting that.
Yes, go Stag hunting.
And we can have a long drawn out argument over what caliber gun you’ll need.

Did call in an angus bull though . Did shoot my stag with a compound I could do it with a recurve over a waterhole, would have to bring my own pop-up or tripod to get it done with a recurve. I don’t trust abilities just yet to take it on a travel trip

I hunted sika deer with these guys in Ireland a few years ago... https://www.celticfieldsports.com/ they also do stag and several other species... We combined the hunt with 4 additional days of touring ireland.. checked out some castles, drank a lot of guiness, etc..etc.. it made for a really nice trip..

Haven’t, but would love to. Rode the train from Prague to Munich a few years back in early October. Saw a ton of red deer as we traveled through the countryside.

Hunted driven red stag in Portugal once. That was fun. This ship I was stationed on made a port visit in Lisbon and stayed there for 7 days. I guy that was a member of a local hunting group offered to take some crew members hunting. I was the only one that took them up on it. Hunted a big estate for cull stags and they hooked me up with a plain Mauser in 7x57. I took 2 stags. Got pictures somewhere in a box, this was long before cell phones and digital cameras.

Poland has some options too I believe. Very strong hunting traditions.

Yes. I used to travel to Germany a lot for work. A colleague invited me to tag along on a hunt with him in the state of Baden-Württemberg. I was just a guest and wasn't shooting. We sat in a blind early in the morning then met up with others for sort of a drive. Saw a variety of deer. Several deer were taken. It was very traditional and a lot of fun.
