Just curious if anybody here has deer hunted in Arkansas as a nonresident? I didn't get drawn for any western hunts this year and my deer lease is in a one buck county so looking for something to extend my season a little bit. I called the G&F office but the person that answered the phone was a new employee and she could not answer any of my questions. I am trying to figure out if I have to draw to hunt on some of the WMAs or if I can just show up and buy a license over the counter and hunt any available public land. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Son goes to U of A.

Looked into hunting in the Ouchita and Ozark Nat. Forests.

From what I hear and read, it’s tough hunting.

Beautiful country though

You will need a WMA General Use Permit to hunt on any WMA in Arkansas. There are a bunch of them and they can be challenging to hunt. I’ve killed some nice bucks on public land here over the years, but it has taken some work. Shoot me a PM if you would like to discuss in depth.

I hunt on a friends 400 acres. I buy the 3 day license that allows 3 deer, 1 buck and 2 does or 3 does. I think each zone has different limits and buck requirements. I hunt on zone 12. Thanks Daniel

Tell him to hunt the north end of McIlroy WMA. Graduated from U of A in 2019 and did a lot of hunting out there. Lot of big deer out there and I'll give him my spots if he wants

You can do that right here in Texas with a permit.

IME public hunting in other states is better than what's available in Texas

I don't know if he will go hunting up there or not, but I'll take them! I plan on spending some time up there.

Sold! Shoot me a PM and I’ll send them over to ya. Won’t be going up there any time soon so at least someone will get to hunt my spots.
