Way it works. Need to end a summer drought, just wait until dove opener

Rain doesn't bother me; I'm use to it now. The Sunday opener dickers it up for me so we'll officially start this year on the 6th. Will be the first year for my kiddo to run his own scattergun so really looking forward to dove and duck season this year.

Just when I had 'em pouring into my little pond for an afternoon drink, there's gonna be water everywhere. Oh well, we need it... I'll swap my snake boots for muck boots and see what happens. I'll at least kill a Shiner or two and it won't be 110 degrees.

two of the best hunts I ever had were sitting in a slow rain. all I needed was my floppy Gore-Tex hat banana

Good luck to all who are getting out this weekend.

Yep, I set up a spot that's outstanding if it stays dry (caliche pit full of water). Significant rain kills it. Looks like this is one of those years.

I've shot lots of dove in muddy conditions. One year we hunted near Woodson for opening day. It literally rained all night on the 31st.
Plenty of birds to shoot.

Yes Sir!

This is a fact. Birds gotta eat.

If you're hunting a good food source, I think you're ok. If you were relying on water ...

Looking like a washout in Stonewall county for opening weekend. Dove opener is my favorite and I’d hate to miss, but it’s tough to complain about much needed rain.

Sitting this opening day out, been raining off n on for about 5 past days. Heavy rain, then sun over and over. After hunting these little guys for about 45 years, ain't gonna let a few rainy days get me down. Got nearly 3 months to go get em.

Lots of birds in Coleman, if you have sunflowers - tough conditions, but awesome if you grind - shot to 10:30 this am started @ 7:15- 45 minutes this afternoon before we started drowning- few short of limit- great opener for conditions. Standing water and muddy fields!

8 guns, scattered birds, great friends and food

My cousin took some friends out to the ranch yesterday. When I talked to him after lunch they had been chased inside with 3" of rain.

Yah it’s a little wet this morning . Fetching birds in the plowed fields should be fun today 🤪

Hammered them south of Ballinger. Somehow missed the rain yesterday. Hunted over cut corn and it was covered up.

Lots of birds, despite the rain. Drive back to Dallas beat down today. 100+ miles of Cats and Dogs rain from the west
