A friend of mine sent me these photos of this Black Bear (yes, it is a Black Bear species) harvested out of the San Gabriel Mountains this season. Sometimes the news channels show videos of bears in swimming pools from that mountain range near Los Angeles. It has the highest concentration of Black Bears in the State. It appears to be definitely a Pope & Young quality bear. Had one like that chatter at me once just 40 yards away. A tense moment to say the least.

Big and good looking bear, congrats to your friend.
I have seen one cinnamon phase black bear in Montana that was a lanky youngster much smaller than that bear.

Mainstream news might be fun to watch
