So my 7 year olds wanted to start a YouTube channel, but they're 7... so I threw out the idea of what if we did a series of videos calling foxes with strange stuff? I have done this hand squeaking technique since HS or before, so we tried "calling one bare handed." I got one to come in, based on the barking in the brush, but that video was kind of a bust. This weekend at the ranch we tried a little kid's musical instrument and had a fox come in good. What else should we try that's goofy, silly, nontraditional that might work? I'm thinking in season we might try and shoot one with a pink cricket 22 or something. I REALLY want to try and call one with a crying newborn. I missed the chance with my own kids. Nearly have to be a recording, unless somebody has a really outdoorsy baby mamma lol. Any more ideas?

I actually bought some $1 squeaky toys, pulled the squeaker out and popped the primer out of a couple 45-70 cases and put the squeakers in them. They work pretty good.

I got a case of Primos mouse squeakers on ebay from a store going out of business. I have them all over the place.

Curiosity will get them too. I was deer hunting last year and a bobcat came by about 75 yards away. I started tapping two small rocks together and it came up to about 20 yards trying to figure out what the sound was.

Not so much a call, but hang a turkey feather by a string on a day with a breeze. All sorts of critters wiill check it out. Best of luck!

Now that's a good idea! Just hang one in video range of the deer stand... might pick up an interesting video.

Feathers are bad about getting hung up in lower limbs of trees. I use old compact disks now and they spin/flash. Bobcats have to see what's going on with them.

Goofiest thing I ever called a fox with was an old Toyota Landcruiser with an exhaust leak. It would make a high pitched squeal at certain RPM's. I was driving done a long stretch of road, just tapping the throttle pedal makingthe squeal come and go. This fox ran out in the middle of the road a couple hundred yards in front of me and just sat down staring at this truck coming at him, until I got about 50 yards away and he ran off.

Back to the squeakers, I leave one on the floor of my deer stand. If a deer is trotting by too fast to properly check out, just give it a light tap with your foot. The deer will likely pause and look at you, so be ready.

Very cool idea. I will try it.
