Spent a few days in Estes Park. Saw some elk and lots of muleys. Weather was great. Come on Sept! Ready to chase those bulls with a stick and sting! [Linked Image]

Good pics, can only imagine how nice the weather/temperature was.

Been there twice, once when I was 17 with my best friend from the Cliff, it was flooded big time, park benches were almost completely submerged.
Next time in my mid 20's snow skiing Hidden Valley.

My favorite place on earth. I’ve told my family to scatter my ashes in your first pic, the moraine

Just about anywhere in Colorado is nice. Several years ago Wifey and were at a campground camping. A gentleman at the park asked us what we did for a living. We told him we were both teachers. Wifey PE and could coach and teach Math. I was a Math and Science teacher. He wanted to hire us right then but we didn't think we could handle the cold winters.

I am headed up there tomorrow. Miss Deb decided that we needed a break after working 5 hunting show in 7 weeks. Not sure what I will do, most likely just knock around and do a lot of glassing. BIL will do a little fly fishing and golf. I haven't had to play golf since the early 80's so I might give it a go.
Adios,
Gary

Was there in the early spring of 2019. Drove for Hour and Half looking for Elk on partially ice- and snow-covered roads. Nothing but Mule deer, until we got back to edge of town. 1 Block from our cabin was a herd of 20+ really nice Bulls!

I do remember falling off the ice pack of Dream lake when I was a kid. Fun times.

A few from a couple of our trips. One of our favorite places….

The first pic was from down in the valley. Complete overcast with drizzle to light rain. The following were when we drove over the top and got above the clouds….

Snake, yup, back side of trail ridge road (new one) is usually covered with elk. Last time I was there son wanted to do the old road with his jeep but it was closed. We did do the telephone pole hill. Went on the bear lake trail and over to the falls but got altitude sickness - too old for that stuff anymore. Did the old road when I was a kid, in an Olsmobile. Didn't get all the way up though.

Your second pic SW is Yipsilon and is a neat hike, but a beating if you do Chapin and Chiquita on the way. I see good ole Flat top in your second to last pic. One of the first peaks I conquered as a child with the family. We went around Hallets peak from there and slid down Andrew’s glacier. Seems to be quite a bit of snow up there for this late in the season.
Thanks for sharing. Brings back good memories.

Saw a lot of elk a couple of muley bucks last week. The biggest bull was in the park above timberline. I guessed him to score 370-380. I was driving and folks were backed up so didn't get a photo. I did however get this photo of the Chapel on the Rock that I think turned out pretty well considering I shot it on my phone.
Adios,
Gary
