She doesn’t have enough teeth left to keep her tongue from hanging out. She’s been like this for a few years so it’s not blue tongue, just older than a rock.

Maybe it is time to make some room in the freezer for her?

She’s so accustomed to me I could kill her with a hammer. I think I’ll let her go out as nature intended.

I would be the same way.

Reminds me of a doe on a friends place in Mississippi years ago. She had broken her jaw, and had to turn her head sideways to get food in her mouth. She would often eat in the garden while they were working in it. She had twin fawns and raised them there for 2 years then a couple years with one before her last year when she didn't have any. They would plant extra for her and she was off limits for anyone to take.

I bet there is some other reason her tongue hangs out. Have two around my house that are bag of bones old their tongues don’t hang out. Shot one several years ago the bad nubs of roots left and her tongue didn’t hang out. I think her body condition is too good to not have teeth left, she looks healthy.

When she eats corn she has to tilt her head to her left until it gets between some teeth. She is healthy looking from me feeding her. She browses on leaves and green grass too. When she eats she pulls her tongue in so she can control it. I guess it could be neurological but after watching her for years everything points to teeth.

I never name them in case I end up making them into sausage.
