Getting great bucks on camera. What is the consensus on continued growth? From now until fully hardened and developed, how much more in width, beam and tine length? Like another 20-30% from current state? I have seen in years past (panhandle) racks continue to grow all of August then they seem to shed velvet and harden up within a few weeks and fully developed by mid September, just in time for bow opener.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Not sure about panhandle, but central TX is nearly done. I'd say 5-10% more would be the limit. They'll harden in the next several weeks and shed velvet around the last 10 days of August. Width will already be set at this point on almost all deer statewide unless they flare out on the ends. My first shedders the last two years were around 8/27. https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/8908648/rubbed-out-8-27-23#Post8908648

Different bucks will develop at different rates. But generally around my lease most all will be hard by September and have rubs by the third week. Scrapes are present in early September for us. As far as how fast ...seems some will grow inches a week...but I never looked that close. This is the most fun time of the year I think.

Have ranches in stx where they are done growing, and others that have a few weeks left.

I'm hoping we get a little more growth in Hall County. I usually don't see bloody velvet and hard bone on my place until the first week of September. I'm happy with what I'm already seeing, though.

It doesn't appear to be over yet in hill country. Still mostly healthy looking velvet on horns here.

I hunt in southern Atascosa County in South Texas. The older aged bucks tend to shed their velvet early to mid September. Young bucks towards the later part of September. Its July 29th today. The bucks will still be adding tine length and beam length throughout August. Maybe an odd "sticker" point right now. We had some really good rains near Campbellton,TX so the bucks should have some beautiful racks this coming season! Its gonna get hot now so keep feeding that protein and cottonseed.

I have a new lease in the Panhandle and the bucks look like they have a few more weeks growing. Their tines are still pretty blunt.

It's estimated to take 20-25 days for antlers to harden and the velvet to reach its dry stage. So you can count back 3-4 weeks from when your deer typically rub out to get a rough idea of when they stopped growing.
