Found some early, well kind of, Hatch chiles at the grocery store so I bought a bag and we're having Chile Verde tonight for supper.
They aren't quite filled out yet but had nice aroma, heat should also get better in a few weeks or so.
Looking forward to this years crop, I'm just about out of last years.
I'll probably buy all Big Jims this year, at least a bushel for the freezer.
The roaster starts on Aug 10 down in N Colorado.

I look forward to you all's recipes every year when they hit your stores.

you're thinking of Penzy's. Pendery's was founded in Fort Worth and absolutely not woke.

Bigbob you are absolutely right, my biggest apologies too Pendery's. Old age is catching me quickly.

I think she is referring to Hatch peppers, not some bought blends that are available year round.

Looking forward to this years crop of Colorado and Hatch chiles.

Chile Verde turned out nice. Chiles were not quite as meaty as they will get but had great flavor and nice heat. They will only get better as the weeks go by.

Licking my chops. Have just four chiles left in the freezer out of 20 pounds we bought and had roasted in Hatch. They are mediums. I look for flavor first, then heat.

That's been my kitchen project this morning. Cleaning and packaging, freezing for the coming year. I like to hand pick the ones for stuffing, versus the ones I chop and cook stews and sauces with.

We only have one good store that roasts them fresh and they have finished hundreds of cases this week. Said they are going to quit roasting next week.

We are just now getting fresh chilies for roasting up this way.
Best ones are always later in Aug , they are filled out more and better flavor.

Looks good Blank, I'll have about a bushel to put up when I get them.
