I found this several years ago and I thought I knew what it belonged to, but I’m not so sure now that I’ve actually compared to another picture. That’s my hand. For reference, I’m 5’ 10” and 210#. Taken in Young County, west of Newcastle about 5 years ago. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/07/full-305-425753-img_2074.jpeg)

Deer Track NOT pig. Come on guys, very surprised at those answers. Hog tracks. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/07/full-56101-425771-hogtracks1.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/07/full-56101-425772-hogtracks2.jpg) Deer track. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/07/full-56101-425773-deertrack.jpg) Hog tracks are always decidedly wider in profile (with respect to length) than deer tracks and typically have a more rounded toe. A 'running' track can appear longer because the track is slipping....but the photo provides shows no such incident. Deer Track.

More rounded toe and more space between them for hogs. Not seen a running deer track so don't know if the toes spread out like that. I've seen pointy hog track too - as I saw the hogs around the feeders.

I appreciate the participation. When I saw it, it never suspected a deer or pig. This thing is huge, almost 5" in length. I am thinking some sort of exotic. We did have some Aoudad that got loose across the highway, and I had them on camera less than 100 yards from where I found this. But this doesn't look like an Aoudad to me.

Leased a place just outside Onley. There were some absolute huge tracks left in that red clay. Never got a shot at one of them. Every time I would be going to my stand and come across a print the size of my hand it would get my heart racing. I've seen some 7" longer out that way.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

A hog with dew claws and long pointed hooves, no way Also that track looks like a casual walk, no deep impressions in the front typical of running or small debris behind the print pushed up from running!

The dew claw marks are another Tell-Tale sign in this case. When a Feral Hog leaves behind a track that includes the dew claws they (dew claws) will be wider than the toe print. A deer's dew claw print will be roughly in line (as wide as) the toe portion of the hoof print. I disagree that the photo provided suggests a running animal or even much (if any) slippage of the hoof. It simply looks like a print left on soft soil by an animal of significant weight. It is normal for the hoof to 'splay' some in such conditions. IF the only cloven hooved animals in the area are Feral Hog, Deer and Aoudad....then I don't see how it could be anything but a large Deer Track. Certainly not Aoudad. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/07/full-56101-425836-aoudad_1.png)

My bad on the dew claws statement, they do have them, but I seldom see their impression when they leave a track.

True. Unless it is muddy soil or an older Boar (walking more on the heel) you don't see the dew claw marks all that often .

Its actually where a raccoon was being a bully to a rabbit and smashed that poor bunny's face into the dirt: ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/07/full-21311-425867-raccoon_bunny.jpg)

The shiny smooth part of the track is where it slid. Looks like a deer all day long to me I had glanced and typed that before looking as close as I should have. Saw the slid dew claw marks are much closer to the back of the track than a non sliding deer track would show. Deer track but that deer foot is not nearly as some might think due to the slide. .
