Booked a bear hunt in Saskatchewan for this fall. Would like to bring back the bear meat and hide. Wrote to Customs and Border Patrol to see what is allowable to be brought back across the border (meat, hide, meat & hide....). The response with generic and vague leaving me with the questions unanswered. If you have some insight please let me know or resources for additional information please let me know.

The guys you booked with don’t have the answers for you? Seems they should be able to answer
Time is not wasted if you spend it with the ones you love.

I've hunted southern Africa, Scotland, and Canada. The outfitters in southern Africa were the only ones that seemed to care about quality care and shipment of my trophies. The others were more like "I found the game for you. It's dead. 'Not my problem." I had to fight to get information. Not exactly "Captains of Industry," but they wouldn't be hunting guides/outfitters if they were.

I hunted bear in BC. Brought the hides back in coolers. Could bring the meat back too but I donated it to the village elders. As long as you have a legal license you can bring them in. Pack your clothes in coolers for going up and then ship the clothes back and use the coolers for game. That is exactly what I did.

I've hunted black bears in Ontario. Drove them across border, meat in zip lock bags in coolers, hide and head in cooler. No issues on either side of border. then flew them home on American Airlines with meat frozen in coolers and strapped closed after TSA viewed and taped shut. Add strap so does not spill out coming out luggage conveyor. Hide was in the heavy duty contractor black plastic bag and same for head/skul (non skinned) but frozen. Put those black bags in large zip up duffle bag (like Bass Pro cargo duffle). Just got to get creative to reduce luggage bag fees. Checked my bow case, roller duffle gear/clothes case, meat cooler and zip duffle with hide/head as checked baggage and save $$. Cheaper than using a shipper. Actually last trip home had 2 bears (2 coolers of meat and both hides/heads went in same large duffle) No problem on flight, connection through Minnapolis to DFW. Done this twice 2017 and 2018.
Go enjoy and post pics with your story
