Pronghorn with 27 points. I had 27 points in Gun Deer Either Sex when I drew that hunt, so maybe this is the year for me to draw Pronghorn.

Sitting on 15 Pronghorn points. Just finished making my annual $75 donation to the TPWD draw. Maybe something will pop this year.

Honestly with Pronghorn, you and I are more likely to go to our graves with those points than to draw. There is only one hunt with a single hunt period in the category. There are 8 permits available and 10276 applicants last year. Being a highly sought after hunt with both residents and non residents applying religiously for several years and years to come, many of those 10276 applicants are going to be well into the double digit points. And everyone's points are cubed now so it equates to a massive amount of compounding drops in the hat that 8 or less permits a year is never going to trickle down. What is crazy is Pronghorn had more applicants than either of the three guided draw hunts, Bighorn, Gemsbok, Oryx each had. But we can't draw it if we don't try.

TPWD draw system SUCKS when it takes over a decade to draw and they offer fewer hunts every year!!!

yes texas draw system is bad and everyone should give up on their points this year i not put in as well i promise all kidding aside i have given up on alot of western state points recently because point creep is impossible to overcome and the cost of the buying points has gone through the roof. I gave up 17 points in wyoming for bighorn, moose, and mountain goat.

I gave up 17 points in wyoming for bighorn, moose, and mountain goat. The odds for the top end animal and premier elk, mule deer and pronghorn units are abysmal. But I wouldn't give up on elk or pronghorn points in those states. There are a lot of places to hunt that don't require max points. You are correct, though, about point creep. I was 2 points behind max on pronghorn and based on the odds it was going to be another 7 years before I could be reasonably sure to draw the red desert. But had a good hunt with my son in a unit that required 6.5 points. I'll still put in for goat and sheep in states that have a random draw possibility if I'm going to buy a license to draw elk or deer anyway. Pronghorn in Texas is, if I recall, about the same odds as sheep in western states.

Yikes! I'm like Bigfoot.
I'm only at 8 points in GDE and that has felt like a long time.
That is my highest Point Category. Next up is Archery, Management and Feral Hog with 5 points.
Only at 4 on Gun Mule Deer and Exotic.
All the other categories are either 4 or less.

I seem to draw something every year. Some better than others but I still have a great time regardless if I am squirrel hunting or deer hunting. Just being outdoors is great. I seem to put in on more archery and doe hunts but more careful with mule deer, exotic and GDE. I'm looking forward to this year. Hopefully it's a good one!

I haven't been putting in for draw hunts cause I spend most my time duck hunting on public land (plenty of places to duck hunt). Never shot a deer or hog but want to. Ive been putting in almost every category for big game this year to built up points. But, I've been at 4 points for Spring Turkey last year and was drawn. I think this year I have 2 points in private deer and guided exotic. Think I'll have better odds trying to get on somewhere by stand by.

I will go to several of the standby hunts. Now, being retired, I have the time to go anywhere during the week.

I am in the teens for big horn and scmitar oryx. I have 8 in archery deer and 5 in exotic. I have drawn exotic twice in the past 10 years. Last year I got blanked. A friend of mine knows a guy who won the pronghorn hunt a few years ago. Said he drove from SE Texas to the Panhandle. Got to the ranch and they said "hey, lets go drive around the ranch and scout." He said as they drove around, they saw one and said "thats a good one, let shoot him." So he did and the hunt was done.

I have 14 or more points in 6 different categories. At this point, I am being super selective.

Every years some one on THF draws a tag they shouldn’t of

Yep, you never know. I with two others in the party had a stretch where we drew alligator every year for 5 years in a row. Each time we got our first or second choice hunt period too.
