Would like some feedback on your Kudu hunt and what your experience was on your trip to Africa with Kudu hunting. The Good, bad or the ugly.

I shot mine with Kuche safaris in the free state. He put us on a friend's ranch and the blind was kind of open with some mesh around it that didn't keep out much light. My pH had to close up the shooting window even more so that I could draw unseen and step into the window to shoot. Wasn't planning on shooting a kudu but after sitting all day without anything giving me a shot I wasn't going to pass on him

Well done on that Kudu!! You could share a picture as well. That's the thing, we always want to shoot something specific but we should take what the bush provide.

Hunted with Numzaan safaris back in 2019.

Kudu were on the list for both me and my wife. Hunted hard for several days with some seen but they would disappear like mist when we tried to make a stalk.

On the third day we decided to sit at a waterhole and had a nice one come in, but wife could not get a shot. Next day at mid day we sat at the waterhole again and a beautiful bull came out with a few cows; a well placed bullet from her 7mm-08 and he was down 80 yards later.

I had assumed that kudu would be a relatively easy animal to get in the salt, but we found that was not the case. We hunted several different properties and didn’t see that many bulls, the few shooters we saw did not hang around long. I would have loved to take one but it was not in the cards.

To be honest, very few animals were easy. Aside from warthog, impala and wildebeest, most animals were incredible wary and challenging to hunt.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Got mine in Limpopo early June of last year. He was number 1 on the list, but as TXTrophy said, a very challenging hunt. Got him on the last full day - quartering towards me, inside-center chest punched him with the 30-06 and he piled up in about 30 yards

My wife got a decent 53" kudu in Limpopo back in 2016... it was a somewhat difficult hunt.. we had seen this particular bull the day before, but got busted by him a couple of times and couldnt make the connection... the next day we went back to the general area we had seen him before and set up an improvised bush blind near a game trail that led to a large watering hole in an attempt to ambush him... we waited about 1/2 the day and never saw him... so we went back to the truck and decided to try something else..

We drove about 1/4 mile, went around a sharp bend in the road, and there he was... less than 100 yards off the roadway, standing in a small field that was maybe 1 acre in size...

we kept driving, hoping not to spook him... and went about 600 yards further down the road, and then got out and stalked back to his location.. he was still there feeding in the same place we last saw him...

my wife took him down with a 168gr TTSX fired from her 308...

2 years ago we were hunting in the NW Province at Bos en Dal Safaris.. a buddy we were there with took the kudu of a lifetime.. 62"... when they hit us up on whatsapp to come take a look.. I was blown away... Ive seen A LOT of kudu over the years.. a good number of them have been truly huge at 56-58"... but Ive never seen anything like that one in my life (and havent seen anything like it since)...

I killed a couple in the NW province of SA, and several in Namibia where I took my personal best 54" bull, while my buddy who went with me killed a 58" bull. I much prefer the significantly larger properties and mostly low fence free range hunts in Namibia over the Texas Hill Country-like smaller high fenced places in SA.

I hunted the East Cape in 2008, and in Namibia around Gobabis in 2016. The kudu hunts were easily the highlights of both trips, and neither hunt was easy.
