So I’m building a feed trough to put inside my protein pen, for some added variety. I’m looking at cattle cubes, compressed alfalfa, alfalfa pellets, cubes, shredded, smart beets, sweet feed??? What do all use that out of the ordinary?

Thanks!

Used to put cattle creep feed in our protein feeders because it was so cheap. Worked fine.

Just beware that a variety of different tastes and smells will attract every raccoon within the county!

There's nothing wrong with a feed trough inside a feed pen. I dump protein pellets daily into mine. When the deer were naive to protein pellets, I started with sweet feed combined with corn. They loved it. Then, I gradually transitioned to pure protein. Good luck.
