Seems a bit late to be dropping fawns, but if she's not pregnant she is the fattest doe I've ever seen. Montage county. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/06/full-63614-423491-mud_0722.jpg)

Very common then there will be early fawns that come in after that. If a doe doesn't breed in the "Main Rut" time frame she will cycle in 28 days later and perhaps breed then. On leases I have been on in Texas I have seen breeding taking place from October to January. those fawns will be born about 7 months later. Some of the latest does to breed are early fans from the Summer before.

We have had fawns born as late as September. July and August are not uncommon.

I still have (had?) one that came into the yard for the corn we through out that was pregnant enough to make me think twins. Didn't see her yesterday with the rain, but will watch. When she shows up there are usually two, what look like yearling does with her eating corn. Last years spawn?

I've got one on camera that looks like she is fixin' to Pop. I'd say a 2nd rut is so common that it happens 100% of the time. I too have seen breeding going on all the way into Jan as well.

back when Mississippi went crazy and did a buck limit of one per day the buck to doe ration was per the biologist 27 does for every buck. finally they stopped that nonsense and things have leveled off quite a bit with for a while the limit being 5 does and 3 bucks and requests to fill your limit of does. Now it is an even number of bucks and does for the limit. During that crazy high buck to doe ratio I saw fawns in January that could walk under the doe to nurse and not duck their heads so not very old. I may be wrong but I think breeding will take place anytime of the year if a doe cycles into estrus she will find a buck to make it happen.
Earliest I saw breeding activity in Eastland county was mid October latest was actually February.

Last years fawns would be born about a year ago so they would be having their first birthday now, so they would be yearlings from now till a year from now.
