Biden wants to ban lead shot nationwide, waterfowlers will just shrug and go on, opinions?

I hope the senate passes that bill, but my money is on the ban being enacted.

I was surprised to see Louisiana has this policy on state land. You'd think they'd be conservative enough to reject this nonsense.

I was surprised to see Louisiana has this policy on state land. You'd think they'd be conservative enough to reject this nonsense. the lead ban only got put into place because Bald Eagles where protected by endangered species act. lead is highly toxic to Bald Eagles…. Not so toxic to Ducks, but Eagles eat ducks Louisiana has the third largest nesting population in the southeastern United States. You either banned it or deal with law suits that you can’t beat just based off perception much less science eagles are no longer protected by endangered species act, but you still have public perceptions. infact you can find anti lead on THF.

Area by area for non-toxic shot regs...Mad Island WMA only non-toxic shot even for doves, sandhill cranes, same at Blue Elbow. At one time Granger Lake was non-toxic shot only even for doves...ACE lake/property, seems like it changes almost annually...Justin Hurst WMA dove hunts also non-toxic shot

Both Texas postcard draw quail/upland hunts I have been on in recent years were non tox only. At the end of the 2000s first decade I was expecting TPWD to go to a dove or all migratory game non tox requirement statewide. They did a blind study in 2008 and 2009 using 6 steel, 7 steel, and 7 1/2 lead which made me think they were thinking about it. I don't remember, but that is probably when many of the WMAs started changing to non tox requirements beyond just waterfowl. https://tpwd.texas.gov/publications/nonpwdpubs/media/20121204_504.pdfI suspected it would produce the results they were looking for to justify it too. "We detected no difference among ammunition types in the frequency of birds bagged per shot, wounded per shot, or missed per shot overall, or within either distance category. However, Fe 7 produced more hits (birds bagged þ birds wounded) than Pb 71/2 overall, and within each distance category."

is this how they obliterate guns? no ammo, no reloading supplies, no lead, no powder?

I hope & pray it never happens but this is why I have a shotshell reloader with enough components to make 3,000+ (12ga) shells easily and I have molds for several types of jig heads, lures and weights and enough lead to last a lifetime plus. Next, I'm gonna start on 20ga components (I have the loader)
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I started playing with reloading steel shot, also sold all my high dollar shotguns ie Benelli Browning and Beretta and replaced them with shotguns under a grand, Franchi Weatherby and Mosberg etc. I have enough loaded lead shot shells to last a while.

Go up two shot sizes in steel for similar pattern density, use high velocity shells. You can go up three shot sizes in steel for similar penetration at distance.
I would rather use lead though.
