I have a couple of questions an
When traveling to and from hunts - does your dog ride in the cab or in a kennel in the bed? If they ride in the cab, do you use seat protectors? If so, which brand? If they ride in a kennel, which one do you have?
Thanks

Mine ride in the cab most of the time. Seats have cordura covers that are easy to take off and wash. Current truck has cabelas brand. I like them ok. Nicest ones I’ve had were marathon. I always have insulated dog boxes in the bed of the truck inside a topper if I don’t want to put them in the cab.

I keep a Crate on the decked 2/3 seat space in the back. A Midwest SUV crate fit my power wagon like it was made for it. My Vizsla goes with me all over the place, not just hunting. It rides like pictured most of of the time, but if I know I will be on a muddy messy hunt or an extended hunting road trip, I flip both seats up to deck the entire back, cover the seats and deck with a Muddy River seat protector, then put the crate back in on top of the seat protector. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/06/full-1680-422810-20240613_120539.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/06/full-1680-422811-20240613_120632.jpg)

my dogs are family members. They ride in the back seat with a blanket on the seat. I always bring towels to dry off my dog after hunts.

I have a camper top on my truck, during duck hunting season I normally I have my memory foam mattress back there with sleeping backs, she loves it back there. She rides in cab too, I use weathertech seat covers, driver and passenger. Wet dog not an issue, she dries off fast naturally, but I always keep a towel on the truck if needed.

He kennels in the back seat....except one time. The farmer had spread chicken manure on the pasture next to the tank we were hunting......guess who decided to go roll around in it? He stunk for two weeks. I threw the kennel in the back of the truck and he road home wet in 35 degree weather.

3-4 bird dogs. Kennels in bed of truck with topper. I worry about heat much more so than cold.

In a box in the back of the truck. This, or in a box mounted on the back of the Mule on a trailer.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/06/full-71986-423351-syd1.jpg) She rides pretty good. My uncle was a big bird hunter, transported his dogs in the trunk of his Buick - did have a breather for it.

In the cab of the truck. I have marathon seat covers. Dry her off before she gets in ans throw a couple old towels on the seat to absorb any additional water.

Either a dog box or a kennel.

Sometimes in the cab on the way to a hunt or other travel.
Almost always in the crate in the bed leaving a hunt. Don’t like a wet, muddy dog in the truck. I will have hay down in the bottom of the crate during winter.
Gunner kennels are better than any other portable crate on the market when it comes to safety and insulation. There may be a couple others like Lucky Duck that are as safe or almost as safe but Gunner outperforms when it comes to insulation.
They are the only crate I’m aware of that has the double wall construction. My Gunner kennels are really unbelievable at keeping dogs cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
I do use a seat cover for the back that covers the seats and the back of the front seats like a hammock type, not sure what brand.
Only negative is weight…
