Me and a buddy of mine are interested in a guided elk hunt this fall. Either two cow hunts or a bull and a cow hunt. I would welcome any suggestions/advice on outfitters to contact at this late stage in the game. Thank you

I would just start calling outfitters in the area you want to hunt and see if there are even any tags available, some may have some but this late in the yr. it may be iffy.

backcountry outfitters in pagosa springs, if they still hunt the weimenuche that is the top spot in colorado.

outfitters out of the lake vallecito area east of durango would be good to call as well.

ask about a cancellation list/get on it.

Beaverhead Outfitters is another good one. Took these three bulls with them.

Used Beaverhead Outfitters back around 2000. Group of 7 of us bought landowner tags, 4 of 7 harvested bull in the Gila.

Vermejo cow hunts if they still do them. extremely high success rate.

Outside of that it just depends on budget.

NM will require LO voucher for ranch or unit, which is extra money.

CO will have a few OTC tags available and outfitters.

This is likely another tire-kicker post. I would advise researching what you're actually looking for that would fit your budget and then ask more specific questions.
