These came up on a muzzleloading forum I frequent, and Cowboy Kent rises to the surface again ...
There seem to be at least three versions, the first being more of a corn dumpling served soft after being boiled in turnip green "pot likker."
Cowboy Kent gives two versions, the simple dodger referenced by John Wayne/Rooster Cogburn in "True Grit" and a second more refined version, which closely resembles the recipe used by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
