5 weeks ago had the big surgery on my right shoulder. Rotator, bicep and labrum along with a bone spur. Had I know how much pain this would be I would have never done it. I am back at the dr on the 1st and hopefully start therapy after that. I hear the therapy will make a grown man cry. I am not looking forward to this in any way shape or form......

Yep, it will.
But, it’s a must do.

All the best, brother. Hopefully they can help manage some of your pain during the therapy.

Do the therapy and you’ll be back to normal in about a year. And yes, it’s gonna hurt. First time I had it done, on the right side, the doc said that if I did the therapy and didn’t do anything stupid, I’d be back to 100%, but if I didn’t do it right the second surgery would only get me back to 80%. I paid attention to that. You’ll be fine.

The pain at first can be rough but with meds it shouldnt be that bad. The therapy is a drag but I cant recall it being that painful. Maybe I was just lucky. I dont know if Im 100% fixed but I feel like I am.

You may have a point on the pain. The first shoulder done was the right one, and I had a muscle torn completely from the bone. The surgery was invasive. The rehab was awful. The second shoulder done was the left one, and they didn’t have to open me up, and recovery was maybe a bit faster, and the rehab maybe a bit less painful. I sincerely hope to never need that again.

Been there, done that on both shoulders a year apart. Therapy sucks but it does eventually get better. Pullies & Bands at home along with table slides and numerous other at home activities will help. Ice, ice & more ice.

They cut my bicep tendon and reattached it, which I feel is the worst part of it, but who knows.... I am definitely no doctor.
Appreciate the advice. I go to the doctor tomorrow so I am hoping that things are well enough that I start therapy next week.

Good luck on your recovery!

Had Rotator Cuff surgery in 1994, Had a sicko masochists' therapist that pushed me so hard my head was sweating with pain.

Beg the doctor for plenty of meds and give therapy hell, if you slack on it you’ll never fully recover. Ive had lots of surgeries and I’d rather have my nuts put in a vice than go through one again but my right shoulders messed up now so at some point I’ll have to do it again. Good luck and know you’re going to get better and look back on it and the pain will be a distant memory when you’re able to function better.

So far so good on the therapy. My range of motion is getting better and better. I still hurt like crazy mainly at night. Can't get comfortable in bed so end up having to move to the recliner.

I've heard a recliner with the controls on the correct shoulder side is a must.

Good luck, keep up the good work!!
