I was at my deer lease in Runnels county and saw lots of birds, including several Toms strutting and fighting. Mating season is on!

Dang they are starting pretty dang early this year... Hope they're not done by the first weekend in April Don't worry about it starting a little early. By the time season rolls around the gobblers might not have as many willing hens and be easier to call. Fewer hens willing to still be with the gobblers makes calling them in easier. Never had a problem calling in gobblers during the last weekend of youth season which is a week after regular season closes.
