Looking to take the youngest boy on a paid hunt. Youngest boy is 22 years old fyi. But i was looking at some paid pig hunts. I would prefer a place with plenty opportunities, that allows you to kill more than one pig. Has feeders, etc. With food and lodging, trying to keep it under $2k.
Ideally, a location in a neighboring state to Southwestern Missouri. Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas. What do you guys know about this?

I'm thinking it shouldn't be too hard to find something in your budget in one of those states. I don't know this but just can't imagine having to pay more than $1K/person for pigs. Good luck. Post on here about your hunt. You also might try posting this on the hog forum.

I know of several that are like $200/day, etc. But this is also gonna be some rest and relaxation for a couple over worked blue collar boys, and meat in the freezer. I am looking for that whole paid hunt experience, just for pigs instead of exotics or trophy whitetails. But we might just drive out to arkansas a do a day hunt or something instead.

I would research public hunting and not give a dime to these hustlers. Half of the peeps online are land owners that profit from hunters. Prices are outrageous and a damn shame. For example, a farmer was complaining about hogs destroying his land so I offered to come shoot them and haul them off. He said "well it's $500 for my hogs hunts". You have to be kidding me!

Maybe you should petition the hunters union to force landowners to allow access to their property for free?

Well I am willing to spend a little bit of money. Not a lot but a little. For the same price to stay in a mid level hotel for a few days you can hunt pigs with rifles and ammo provided and food and lodging. Just wanted to point that out.
There are some places that will only let you shoot one. Not interested.
There are some places with monster eurasian boars, high fence places. Ok if it’s like 5k+ acres and they are weary I am game lol. But those hunts are $$
Then there are some that let you come out and shoot pigs for a few days and don’t put limits on your take of pigs. Those places are just trying to make a little money and price it competitively enough to attract you. If they don’t put a dollar value on it no one is interested except the riffraff. You’re paying for your stay.

If it makes you feel better I have a friend/acquaintance, and one whom I consider a mentor and father-type of figure. We were talking about fishing and i ought to come out one day.
“ well it’s $600 per day”. Lol well he is a tournament pro and I know it would be worth it. If I were ever gonna pay somebody to help me find fish it would be him.
But, just saying. Nothing worth doing is free, it cost time or it cost money. Or both.

Folks living in the suburbs sometimes are willing to pay larger sums to hunt than folks that live in rural areas. To each their own.

Nothing worth doing is free, it cost time or it cost money. Or both That's why ya'll got a hog problem. Many times seen people willing ta help out. They spend their money, driving, ammo, & their time. & it's free. Yet some want money. & they get run down. They spending their time & money. Yet get called names. That's why i hunted the WMA, & were lived, let the deer walk, & concentrated on hogs. Invited friends.

I strictly hunt public all my life. For deer, off and on about ten years. have killed one big bodied basket rack 8 pointer about 3 years old, and shot a small doe fawn with my bow. Can’t hunt pigs on public here and i have not seen them anyway.
Public deer hunting cost a lot in time. Game cams not legal here. I have one day off per week to share with my family, if that, and they don’t want to explore the public ground every weekend.
A deer lease makes sense. A cheep one in an area with so-so deer but also some pigs. I am a Texas native and never even killed one. Some might call that a shame!

See another thing about a lease, i can go there, fill feeders, camp, maybe fish, etc. Drive my 4x4 to and from feeders snd stands, etc. My family enjoys the outdoors, too. But they do not have my wanderlust, are not willing to hike through thorns and brambles or cross rivers or creeks just to see what is there.
The cost to take a solid week off unpaid to hunt, is more than thr price of a hunt.
I spend my paid time off on holidays. I get two weeks. Goes up to three before long, and i aim to spend part of one week getting some R&R and good food and good times but i also want to hunt.
I walk about 40 miles a week and lift about 45 tons of boxes by hand no equipment, endure temps in excess of 120 and below -40. Ain’t no shame in my game i want to *relax* and have a good time in good company. And i can afford it

Perfectly legal, & b4 the NV/Thermal hunts became popular, & had place ta myself. Theirs plenty of places offering hog hunts, few of them with NV/Thermal hunts. Hope that ya find a place, & take home trophy of memories. i helped out with the hog problem, spent time, my money, just chose the $48.00 permit. Again Best wish on your hunts, looking forward ta reading about it. Stay safe.

Haters are gonna hate. “Them city boys”. “Them people in the suburbs”. “Well I did my part in the public you shoukd kill them in the the public too.” Take it somewhere else. I didn’t ask you. I asked about good and affordable paid hunts, good food and lodging. I don’t have time to screw around in the woods and compete with other public hunters, or manage a property. The nearest public land pig hunting is in another state. Too busy working my tail off so my taxes can pay for your kids college.
Some people fail to understand that with a good outfitter on a well managed property, with good food and good lodging, $500-$600 a person for a good pig hunt is a steal. There are outfitters that charge that base price to hunt at all, whether you succeed or not, plus the cost if you kill a animal.
It’s a different world. If you don’t like it, buy some land. If you can’t afford it, get your CDL. Go to lineman school. Etc. all kinds of ways to make money.
Before too long all the public ground is going to be so crowded rifle hunting will be strictly private ground.

The public OTC units we used to hunt in Colorado got so crowded it was unreal. I can only imagine what it’s like east of here.

I'm gonna take a guess and say you're not a landowner. "Profit from hunters" you say. I won't speak for everyone but here's my personal math. Land payment + taxes + upkeep + a little $ from hunters = no profit.

If a private landowner has a hog problem, his absolute best bet is to hire a professional trapper to come out.
Letting hunters pick them off one or two at a time isnt an effective solution.
Bryan has the right idea, he wants a quality hunt with high success percentages with good lodging. What he is wanting to hunt just happens to be for hogs.
I get tired of the “ well people gots hawg problems but they donts want to letz me hunt’em” retort. They don’t let random hunters come out and pick off hogs because it’s not effective, and it’s a huge liability with zero upside.

I get a yuck out of if I am not gonna lie. Some people fail to see the truth, don’t want to face reality. EVERYTHING is going up, inflation and prices have skyrocketed in the last five years. But greedy landowners are price gougers?
I am just happy they manage to hang on to a place and make good hunting available.

Back to the original problem. And if it is really that bad, they *will* hire a pro. That is the only reason pro hog trappers even exist, there is a market there. And some of those guys pen and castrate the young ones and raise, finish, and process them at FDA places. Letting people, especially strangers, hunt your place for free is highly problematic. But if you really want to *help* them with their problem, there is a niche for pro hog trappers and you can help them and get paid. But it is work.

I am just happy they manage to hang on to a place and make good hunting available. I go bird hunting at a place close to my house a few times a year. Afternoon hunts for (mostly) released birds, it’s a great time but a tad expensive. But….I don’t think the operation is making much money if any at all. Cost to raise the birds, full staff, guides, facilities, etc….it costs a fortune to keep the doors open. The owners do it for the love of the sport.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

The “let me get rid of your hogs for free” scenario is far more trouble than it’s worth. Been there done it with more than one person/ group. Much more of an inconvenience than number of hogs getting removed. But in their mind coming out with a thermal, riding all over the place and shooting 3 hogs once every 6 weeks was a huge service. Not sure exactly how it was working, but at one time there was a guy buying wild live hogs around here. Which in turn had more dog hunters and several older retired guys semi full time trapping. Made a. I’m difference in the area.
