How did everyone get along in Hall County this year? I'm getting to hunt close to the river this year and really excited. Not from the area, so I'm just hoping some good deer travel the river bottom....

Lots of deer this year and a good fawn crop around my place. I hunted almost two weeks and not a single time was I skunked... saw deer every sit. Never saw the first hog either. I knocked down a couple of does but my target buck is NOT in my freezer.

Always next year! Excited about the opportunity this coming year. Heard really good things in that area, just hope it translates.

We saw some better deer numbers this year. A couple good ones taken as well. We are in the southern part of the county.

Had a good fawn crop as well in south East hall county on the pease river. Got 2 bucks that’s just drooped horns yesterday

Deer body conditions were in good shape where I’m at. Plenty of fat on the does. The bucks I’ve seen have rutted down a lot of weight but are still in decent shape.. almost zero fawn recruitment in 2022 but had good fawn crop in 2023. So there will be a missing age class of bucks in a few years but that won’t bother me any.

Why the decline in fawns in 2022? Drought?

Why the decline in fawns in 2022? Drought? Yes. Was very dry. Little to no rain when it was needed most.

In a perfect world.... would you rather? Hunt in Northern Hall? Southern Hall? Western Hall? Eastern Hall? Anywhere on the River?

I'd personally stay away from the river. Too many hunters, poachers, 4-wheelers, and hogs. I'd probably pick the area I had the best chance for big muley and whitetail bucks with a little terrain. Maybe the northwestern half. Just a swag, though.
