Anyone have experience with the Crimson Trace Brushline scopes? I’ve thought about getting one before to try it out, but never did. They have these on sale, thought I might go ahead and try one.

I'd be leary about the brushline series. They used to make a series 2, series 3 and series 5. The series 5 was made in Japan, and the 2 and 3 were Chinese. I purchased a series 5 when it was on clearance, and I have been very happy with it. Good glass, tracks well...all the things that you would expect form a Japanese made scope. For what I paid (around $750 if I remember correctly), I think it is an excellent scope. It would not have been worth it to pay full retail, which is probably why they did not get popular. They discontinued this series and replaced it with the brushline and proline series, all made in China. You don't really hear anything about them, and that is probably not a good sign.

Thanks for the reply. That’s exactly why I didn’t purchase one a while back when I was looking at them. Still never hear anything about them

For that price, you can get a burris xtrII. A proven performer. One thing about the Crimson Trace, they kept the same reticle. I really really like that reticle.

You still don't hear anything about them, so, I just don't know. If you take a chance on it, report back!

Just to let you know, I have a series 3 CTL-3420 4-20X and it is clearly marked "Made in Japan." I really can't tell you much on its performance since I put it on a rifle and put the rifle in the safe after about 20 shots.

I'm only wrong when my wife is home! The scope I have was one of the first group they made. I would not be surprised if they didn't change production location. The comical part is I still remember when "Made in Japan" meant "cheap."
