Went with the old crew to Port O'Connor this last weekend. My bud has a massive ranch that borders the intercoastal waterway on one side and the bay on the another. He said from all the rains the birds were in a very shallow sheet water. Instead of driving miles through the ranch, we hired a airboat to take us down the intercoastal, across land to the blind. Our host picked up the wrong gun case and had a 20ga with only 12 ga shells. I handed him my shotgun and said I don't give a rats arse if I ever shoot a duck again, I just wanted to watch the show. Nothing but wave after wave of drake pintails for the first hour. Later a few hens in the mix. The late morning pintails were suckering right into the deeks. It reminded me of the Katy Prairie in the late 1970s.

Congrats. Nice to hunt with th old crews. Many of my old hunting buddies don't hunt anymore and the ones that do are too busy taking the grandkids. Good to see it still happens.Next to canvasback, pintails are my favorite birds.
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

Nice! I found thousands of them when the freeze hit and things iced over. They likely headed south, but gonna find out if they're still around tomorrow morning.
