Got a doe this evening. Sure was a cold one. I don’t think she’ll spoil before morning! Headed back in the morning for that big buck that’s been dodging me. Luckily, work is shut down so I get a couple of extra hunts and time is ticking…… ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/01/full-68829-410955-img_7669.jpeg)

Skin her out and let it hang for 7 days before processing, she'll be tasty & tender.

ha, I still remember back in the early 1980s there was a brutal cold spell towards the end of regular season, sub-teens. My hunting buddy and I decided to fill out our doe tags one weekend, too a total of 5 does between us. It was really late when we got back to my house, so we just hung them in the carport and we were planning on processing the next day. It stayed below freezing several days and he got busy doing other stuff, I finally drug all 5 does into the garage to thaw out so I could skin them. It was harsh to say the least and very tough work trying to get the skin off of them laying on the garage floor and finally getting them quartered. A week or so later he asked if he could swing by to pick up his meat ...

Yea, this East Texas boy was just trying to get it gutted and out of the 15 degree weather. I’ve never hung a deer overnight, most less for 4 days. Got hog quarters hanging too. Hoping they thaw enough today to bring in the shop and deal with.
