No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

That is more widgeon I have seen in one place in a long time. Years ago they use to come in bunches of 8-20 whistling - not any more. Great hunt!

Are you seeing more wigeon this year on your place vs last year? Wigeon numbers have been down, but I'm sensing they are up this season. Nice shoot.

Nice! My lease out west had em thick up till a couple of years ago. I've seen wigeonados a few times, big groups of 50+ working in. Not sure what happened, but they're not around any more like that.

This place seems to always get big number of wigeon in January. In general this area has a lot of wigeon every year. A few years ago I watch a group of a 1000+ feed in a wheat field and they would move from the field to water every hour or so all day. I happened upon these kind of by accident. On Monday I was actually going deer hunting with a buddy and while I was waiting for him I noticed a bunch of ducks down on a big tank by his house. Took out the binos and saw a few hundred down in this cove. 2 days later we got on them.

We've had a lot of widgeon this year at our place east of Sherman. Not as many lately (maybe 1/2 dozen came in yesterday) with the new cold fronts, but we were getting a lot before then. Lots of gadwall lately.

6 guns 6 limits mainly teal and gadwalls + few wigeon. Took 2 ducks off wetland before weather on 2 hunts. We kicked up some GWT today on the gravel road heading to blind. That’s a first. 3 great 2 man hunts the last 10 days.

Headed to Abilene after work today to hopefully get on them tomorrow morning. Lows in the teens so probably going to have to break some ice, but could make for a great hunt if everything else is frozen over. BradyBuck what're you seein out there?
You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas! -Davy Crocket This is duck hunting...shirts and shoes are optional

Lots of smaller ponds are frozen, I have been seeing ducks but haven’t been out to really scout since before this big freeze. I guided two hunts near Coleman and did well. So there are definitely ducks around. I think if you had open water today and especially over the last few days you could do really well… I haven’t hunted much when I’ve had to break ice, what I’ve learned is that ducks will still land on ice, they just won’t stay. If the water was open the day before they will still come back to feed.
