When do yall start putting traps out and what part of the state? I’m in the metroplex and this will be my first year trapping. Thinking of starting to soak some traps in the next couple of weeks

Way too early. Most are burrowed up in the mud during the Winter until Spring, normally March or April they start coming out good. Which is when crawfish season starts.

On warmer Winter days you can still catch some, but won’t be nearly as active. They will also be smaller and not as full of meat vs the Spring when they come out & start feeding good. If you’re gonna trap now go deep.
