Did blackcloud ammo double in price over the last 2 years? Worth buying over Kent faststeel?

I never saw an improvement in using BlackCloud over Fasteel. If your gonna spend money, buy Boss shells
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I shoot nothing but Boss now, but would have no problem shooting Kent’s. Shot them for years with no issues. Black Clouds are trash in my opinion. I’ve seen lots of misfires come from them in my years.

Kent fast steel is what I primarily use.
Boss is good, but a complete waste of money if your shooting teal, widgeon, gadwall and the normal mixed bag texas ducks. I've got 2 cases of it so am not a hater. It killed the elders and seaducks stone dead I shot with it last year. Just don't see the point of it when shooting mixed bag texas ducks as they are not hardy birds.

I’m not a big waterfowler by any stretch so I want to ask the question on why you think it’s a waste? One thing I always noticed when duck hunting with steel shot is the amount of still alive birds we have when you knock them out of the sky. It seems I was killing birds dead with the boss shells. For me and my one or 2 a year trips it wasn’t a matter of hitting birds but killing then dead vs, them still being alive. We normally shoot a mixed bag of the above mentioned birds over decoys at 20-30 yards

If you are not killing birds inside 30 yards with steel you need to do 3 things. 1st, pattern your gun and find a good choke/shell combo. 2nd make sure your gun fits you and you are shooting where you look. 3rd, spend more time at the range to where you are consistently hitting.

Winner winner chicken dinner! I tried Boss last year and the only positive I got out of it was the little bag you get to keep all future shells, no matter the brand in. Boss made ABSOLUTELY no difference in the way I hunt. The cheapest shells I can find is what I buy now and that usually will be Federal blue box or Kent. I have a hunting buddy that used the expensive shells and he shoots about the same as me. Lastly, its a well known fact that a few seasoned hunters that lurk here use nothing but the cheapest shells they can find and swear by them. Well placed marketing can relieve a man from more of his money than needed!

I have been using the Monarch brand from Academy, I still kill as many as I used to with any other shell. Plus they are $2 cheaper than anything else.

I think 2flyfish4 nailed it on #1. You'll see a much bigger improvement spending $100 on a proper choke, instead of $300 on shells.

I've had no issues with Monarch, Winchester, Federal blue box, etc... All about shot placement.
I used to shoot Kent pretty religiously until they got to be $25/box now. Now I just shoot whatever is cheapest at Academy and have no issues. 3" #4's

Whatever I pick up cheap at the end of this season, is what I’ll shoot next season!
