One time, on my annual High Sierra fishing trip; we decided to come down to the flat land of the high desert to hunt some jackrabbits. We headed out of the town of Bishop on Five Bridges Rd. until we saw a rabbit, and pulled over to walk the area. After a few hours of some success, we headed back. On our way out of this desolate area, we began getting passed by car after car going the other way. We turned around and followed. Seemed like 3 or 4 miles before we drive into this box canyon filled with hundreds of vehicles and party go’ers. Pick up trucks were parked in a huge circle with kegs in the beds; not 1, not 2, but 3 stages constructed with country/bluegrass bands going at it; and the best assembly of hundreds of people I’ve ever experienced. Hardly “wildlife conservation” going on there. There was nothing conservative about. People were hammered. It was an amazing time!
