This buck is 6.5 for my best guess. Have pictures of him for past 3 years. Last year he had a broke G2 and he was an 8 point and now he`s a 7 after not growing a G3 on his left beam. Passed him at 25 yards yesterday and for the 3rd time this season. He is a toad of a buck and probably the most mature buck I`ll see this season, but I keep passing him because he`s just a 7 point. He looks bigger now than a month ago to. I have a few more hunts to think about it before rifles season begins and someone else will probably put their tag on him. My younger self would have shot him 3 weeks ago, but I see things totally different than when I was younger.

I would have a hard time passing that deer with a bow unless you have some real toads in the area.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

He is as mature a deer as I`ve seen on our lease since we`ve been on it (2018). I had him at 18 yards yesterday and just watched him as he chased does until dark. Decided to let my son shoot him in rifle season if he can close the deal. He`s got limited time to hunt and I can go every day if I want.

He'll never be more than 7 pts, shoot him. Why let his genes move through your herd, take them out. Hope your son gets him, good luck to him !!!
