So had an unexpected break in my afternoon schedule today and was in the vicinity of our camp so thought i would shoot in and do some routine scouting. Pulled up to the gate and it was locked and secure as per normal but about 100 yards up the driveway i could see what looked like a log lying on the driveway. Opened up the gate and drove ahead and it was a cedar rail from the fence line which is about 5 yards west of the driveway at that spot. Looked closer and it was clear someone had driven a machine through the neighbour's bush and through the fence onto our property. There were lots of downed small trees all pointed in our direction with lots of bark scraped off. Immediately i got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. Drove ahead to the cabin and my fears were confirmed. Cabin door was open and going around back of the cabin my 900cc Diesel Kubota 4x4 Side by Side was gone. I had just dropped it off a week earlier for the season. Went inside the cabin careful not to touch anything and the place had been tossed. Nothing of too much value is ever stored there but 7 solar panels were taken, 200 amp hour of deep cycle battery gone and a 1500 watt pure sine inverter gone as well. Tossed cabin: ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53288709328_b227db7dbd_k.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53288833879_ab125a6651_k.jpg) Stolen RTV: ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/4403/36317396356_5edecdf4ce_b.jpg) So timeline was nobody had been at camp in 8 days. I arrived today at 1:20 pm. Called cops (via dispatch not 911) at 1:25 pm. Constable arrived at 1:45 pm. Took constable through the scene and answered questions gave statement until 2:05 pm. Constable gets a call and informs me last night they raided what she called a rat's nest about a mile away and have recovered everything! Really just some clean up required and repairs to the door and door frame - no need to even call insurance in. Day sucked but man i was impressed with our local rural police force. I made sure she knew it too. Getting my stuff back tomorrow!

Sorry to hear your cabin had been vandalized. That’s one of my biggest fears.
Glad they recovered the items and the kubota.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I have a mobile home at my place. Also a shipping container and a construction office trailer.
I lock the shipping container because that’s where I keep tool box, 4 wheelers feed, lumber and misc stuff. I have a shield over the lock so it’s not easy to get into it. Of course, a torch would do it.
A 35 ft. long construction office trailer holds feed, welding stuff, screws, nuts, bolts, nails, etc.and more junk.
Also, a 35 ft long metal tractor shade which holds tractor, huge air compressor, large steel work bench and more tools, electric wood splitter and more stuff.
I don’t live there so I’m butt deep in no flash, concealed, game cams that send pics to my phone.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

glad they got your things back and caught the trash that did it. It makes you feel like crap when you get robbed. My ranch was hit about 5 years ago. Once they caught the guy, I registered with victims' services through the state so I could get updates on parole hearings and sentencing updates. I write a letter to the parole board every year telling them about the emotional stress the pos put on my family. It helps them to deny parole. It's a nice way to regain a little control over the situation. You may want to consider asking the Sheriff's office about registering if the folks that robbed you get sentenced.

That was a lot of effort to get in there. They must have been so high they could hunt ducks with a rake! 'Very glad you got your stuff back. How do the laws work and do you think they'll be prosecuted fully? We all need to make their lives as miserable as they make ours. Not for revenge, but to try, although possibly futile, to deter future scum bags. Kudos to the constabulary!

[quote=Creekrunner How do the laws work and do you think they'll be prosecuted fully? [/quote] ^^^^^ Hell NO. Unless they are already some 3 time loser....they will be offered a 'Plea Deal' and get 1/3rd the sentence they deserve. Just burns me up.

Just got home with the RTV on the float. All the serial/VIN numbers have been removed and it has been painted mat black LOL. I am OCD about maintenance records which was helpful in proving it was mine and getting it released. Over the phone i was able to tell cops make, model and size/profile of the tires on the unit, make and model of the battery, and the location and size/shape of 2 dents in the roof that my son put on the unit 5 years ago. Was also able to give them the exact hours on it when i last saw it 9 days ago. That was more than enough for the cops regardless of no serial/VIN number. I also had the original bill of sale from 2009 confirming model.
So on Monday i will take it to the dealer and have them do a once over to make sure there is no hidden damage. It started fine and drove onto the trailer fine so not too worried.

When our place got broken into they caught the fellas that did it. They didn't steal much but did a lot of damage to two RV's. They got fined and a little county time, but we got NOTHING. County got paid, lawyers got paid, but 0 restitution for us. I'm still pissed about that and that was 27 years ago.

Glad you got your stuff back so quickly. My camp is pretty close to the LO's house, but I still am leery every time I pull up to the gate.

I’m not a criminal, so therefore I don’t have the mindset but what good does sanding off the serial number do? Just because it has no serial number doesn’t prove ownership to anyone. In my opinion, it’s a huge red flag, what am I missing?
