Many folks on the forum have some pretty fancy rifles, but I don’t remember anyone mentioning Sauer rifles. I used to work with a fellow that had one, and it was a work of art. Beautiful wood and deep rich bluing. Way out of my price range back then. Any of you guys have one? Does it shoot as good as it looks?

I watch Wild Boar Fever on Outdoor Chnnel. Those guys all shoot Sauers. One guy shoots the Grade 404. A beautiful rifle. Even their starter grade are very accurate.

I have owned a Colt Sauer Grand Alaskan in 375 H&H. It was made by Sauer in Germany but marketed under the Colt name for the American market. Its the finest rifle I have ever owned. I have never felt another action as smooth as that one.

My business partner has a 202 in .375 H&H

I’ve only shot it about 4 times but it’s a fantastic rifle. Fit and finish is second to none and the action is like silk. They don’t make rifles like that anymore…..well, maybe a few do (Rigby is one) but they are not common.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

603,

I had the Sauer 100 (composite stock) and loved it. The only issue was the original stock which has a 14.25" length of pull. For most people, not an issue. For me it was a game changer because of the proper placement of the scope for eye relief. It was weird. Apart from that, the action was smooth as silk, the feel and balance was amazing, and it shot beautifully. I would definitely recommend any of the Sauer rifles based on what I experienced.

I’ve had a few over the years. They do make a fine rifle, and tend to be a little ahead of the times. I had a easy change barrel rifle of there’s in 300wm over 20 years ago that is very close to the newish ai ax. Wish I’d have held onto that one.

Buzz, that 404 is really something. How much does it cost, and why don’t you have one? I think you really need one, if only to cause forum envy.

I'm gonna leave the 404 to the high rollers on here (you know who you are). I'm living on a fixed income now. Think they are going in the $teens$
