Is the buffle grass chest high yet?

Not quite, but on its way.

I have stopped feeding protein since the beginning of April. Everything is so lush and green. Its a deer buffet out in the pasture. Will resume protein feeding when it starts to get HOT and DRY!

Looking great last weekend, and after this big rain today we're looking at bonus moisture.

3" at the Stonewall county ranch in the last week....incredible!!!

Over the last three weeks, we have had an average of 5" of rainfall across most all of Menard County. Before this spell, we were in a severe drought. All of the timely rains have really greened up the pastures but it is too little too late to help the antler growth.
Hopefully we will raise a few turkeys as last was a hatch failure.

Still, I think it has to help a little, if the rains keep up. 'Hard to get too much worse than last year, as far as antlers.

We need more down here, slow and steady a couple of days would be fantastic.

Insanely green in Callahan & Runnels County. Much needed after last years drought. Last year we had rocks and dust this year we have waist high grass and tons of wildflowers. Deer quailty should be much much better this fall!

10+" in ft mckavett over the past several weeks. Emerald green and oaks are putting on new growth. Rain and heat will bring forth......ticks! Cuidado amigos.

That's a lot of water for that area, and not too far from me. Crazy how spotty it is, but I'm thankful for what we've had.

5.5" for the month of May. Very nice here. Now need some run off for the ponds.

4 3/4 in in last 3 weeks here in west central young county. Need run off water,but everything is lush and green. Flowers everywhere and sunflowers we planted growing good. Deer not hitting protein much so saving $ right now.

Don't recall this much grass in these pens. We'll let the deer clean up the remainder of the cottonseed on the ground and then come in, rake it clean and start over. Don't want mold on the bottom. in addition, likely to weed eat the pen and spray Eraser near the ground rods.

Have not seen this much water in our stock tank since my grandfather had it dug back in early 60's

Lots of forbs have sprung up in Western Val Verde County. Sage has flowers, ocotillo has leaves. Good for the fawn drop, but it needs to stay cooler for awhile so all that doesn't whither.

Range conditions are really improved here in Menard County. I thought that the rains fell late enough that we would not grow many weeds but nights are still so cool that we have a pretty dense weed crop, especially in the deeper soils. More rain predicted week or so.
Thank the Good Lord for sending us the moisture and bringing an end to this drought.

Our ranches in Pearsall have benefited from the moisture. The family place in western Menard County has gotten 3.5" in May. It looks like a jungle instead of a desert for a change.
