Wanting to try my hand at a local PRS type match.

Been a leupold guy forever but not sure that's the right maker for PRS.

Was considering a vortex viper PST 5-25 but was wondering if there were better options out there.

Also, should you go MOA or MIL?

Any tips would be appreciated.

I really like the Burris XTR II line of scopes with the mil scr reticle for an entry scope.

99.9% of the people who shoot prs run mil so it is typically recommended. In all reality moa works just fine but at entry level club matches corrections from a spotter is allowed as is sharing calls so speaking the common language helps.

Stock or chassis is user preference.

But the "right stock" is important. Manners T-4, McMillan A-5 are both equally great as match gun stocks.

It's a weird sand camo pattern hence the discount. A can of Krylon fixes this.

As Jason said the stock versus chassis debate is purely personal. A chassis is appealing due to almost infinite adjustability they have. I due feel like they have a strange recoil pulse feel to them or at least my MDT ACC does. Regarding stocks the two main fiberglass options in Manners and McMillan both feel practically the same although my Manners has a slightly larger palm swell. The Manners also have the mini chassis option which is fantastic. The stock I've enjoyed most lately is the Foundation. It feels almost identical to my McMillan A3-5 but it seems to soak up recoil a bit better.

All that being said if you aren't in a huge hurry to buy most guys will let you get behind there setup to get a feel. The same typically goes for looking through glass as well.

Right now I’m running an old pant leg with rice in it.

Great for the deer blind but prob no great for PRS.

That would probably suffice to an extent. My personal favorite bag is the Wiebad Tater Tot bag. It’s my go to for everything from being used as a rear bag to using it on positional barricades and what not. Mine has the nonskid material but only by accident as I wasn’t paying attention when I ordered it. It is helpful on hard slope lines but that’s about it.

Yep good people and great products. They're actually one of our League Sponsors. The tater tot is my do all bag like Dee said. I have a bunch of them, but use that one and the pump pillow the most.

If you want to try out PRS shooting without breaking the bank and you have a decent 22LR you should come out to one of our NTxR League matches in Valley View.
