I’ve seen a quail like that in a net wire fence. Also an owl in the same predicament, but it was still alive.

Had a neighbor that thought shiny CDs attached around the soffit of the house would keep birds away. Nope, dead birds below them often. Birds do bird things that sometimes don't work.

I was in the deer stand a few years ago and watched a low flying duck come in too low, hit a barbed wire fence and get its wing wrapped up in the wire
