Here’s another doctor speaking out on statins. Well worth the 15 minutes to watch. He also mentions something in the data that I have heard elsewhere. Older people (over 50) with higher cholesterol have lower mortality rates than those with low cholesterol.

I don't have high cholesterol, but an imbalance of LDL to HDL. There is a medical term for it that I don't recall. I'm on 10mg of rosuvastatin once daily.

I watched this video yesterday. Big Pharma is as crooked as politicians. They pay for studies and then pay off the people doing the studies to come to a conclusion that is beneficial to them.

I`m on Rosuvastatin also. At least it does help reduce inflammation. Not all stains do. I think it is also one of the Statins that doesn`t have a high risk for Dementia.

I don't have any aches or pain. I think I may experience some muscle loss, but at 69 the drug may not be a factor. I think I lose some strength if I go a few days without lifting weights. I'm talking dumbbells, not tractor tire looking barbells.

Went and got blood work done.

What size dosage of Crestor are you taking. Mine is 10MG daily and my LDL has been 72 the past 2 checkups. I've seen several Dr.`s state that an LDL less than 70 isn`t good. The LDL good range is 0-99, but the closer you get to 0 you are isn`t a good thing. I`ve already decided that if my LDL # gets any lower than 70, I`m going to tell my Dr. that I want a smaller dose or I`m going to quit taking it. Your body needs LDL Cholesterol to survive and function for lots of thing. I refer back to the study where there were more fatalities of older people with low cholesterol than high cholesterol. No doubt that Crestor does a great job of lowering LDL Cholesterol, but studies show that low Cholesterol extends your life very little compared to someone not talking Statins. Lots of the information about how much Statins extends your life is very misleading, but you have to really look to find someone who`s honest about it and not in Big Pharma`s back pocket. The main reason I agreed to take it was because Crestor reduces inflammation unlike other satins like Atorvastatin.

TPack, I take 10mg. I will see my cardiologist in September. I plan to talk about going to 5mg. Crestor prevents plaque formation, due to the anti-inflammatory properties I guess. An ultrasound showed some blockage a couple of years ago, but the little camera showed so little plaque that I didn't get a stent. A year later I had AFib. The procedure for that was a TEE. Electric shock to the heart. They also mapped my heart, which shows a lot of the functions we don't think about like valve function.
Getting old happens, just have to make the best of it.

This is pretty goof info about the half-life of Rosuvastatin and why some people are able to take a low dosage or every other day and still be affective.

Makes my doctor feel good to prescribe them. I throw them in the trash. Total chlorestoral is consistently less then 200.
